TRANSPORT

By plane:

• The Peloponnese is served by 2 major airports: Kalamata International Airport (10 km from Kalamata) and Araxos International Airport. Both are very convenient for travelers who are visiting the Peleponnese on a short time table. From airport, viitors can rent a car, hire a taxi or take a KTEL bus.
   

By train:

• Take train from "Stathmo Peleponnisou" in Athens
• Inexpensive. Purchase seat and reserve seat ahead recommended
• In general, travel using the greek railway system, OSE, is inexpensive, rather slow but very rich in scenery. Not recommended for travelers with short time table. Purchase ticket and reserve seat ahead. Nearest station is in Kalamata. From Kalamata, visitor can take KTEL bus, rent a car or hire a taxi to Kardamili.

By car:

• Athens-Kardamili approx. 300 km. Patra-Kardamili approx. 255km
• From Athens-tolls cost about 15 euro one way.Patra-Kardamili no tolls.
• 3 hours and 30 minutes' drive from either the capital of Athens or the port of Patras
• From Athens, Highway to Korinth,Tripoli, Megalopoli, Kalamata. In Kalamate take road south towards Areopoli, for 35 km. Kardamili is 1st coastal village on this road. From Patra take route Patra-Araxos-Pyrgos-Kalo Nero-Kalamata

KTEL (national bus service):

• KTEL bus sytem from "Kifissou Bus Station" in Athens
• Inexpensive. Reserve seat ahead possible
• Athens-Kalamata approximately 3hrs. Kalamata -Kardamili approx.45 min.
• KTEL bus system is extensive & reliable. Travel by bus is quick, safe, and inexpensive. Convenient time tables, with frequent (hourly) departures from Athens to Kalamata. From Kalamata departures for Kardamili are convenient, but not houirly- 3 departures in morning, 2 at miday and 2 in the afternoon-evening period.
